For May 23-24 there will be two practise runs and one timed run for all British Hillclimb Championship (BHC) and BHC Cup classes.
See the note concerning the Gurston Masters (GM) Class below. There will be one round of the BHC per day, including one BHC Top 12 Run Off per day. Round No 7 on Saturday 23 May and Round No 8 on Sunday 24 May.
Note: GM Class will run before the BHC classes for practise one, practise two and timed run. To give Top 12 Run Off drivers time to prepare their cars, GM Class will run as a buffer batch prior to the BHC Top 12 Run Off, thereby giving the GM Class a second competitive run, as NCR Ch 14 App 3, section 3.1.
Note new to Issue 2 of 2026 National Competition Regulations (NCR), the BALACLAVA mandatory regulation for drivers of Modified, Sports Libre and Racing Cars: Modified Cars, Sport Libre and Racing Car drivers must wear the mandatory Flame resistant balaclava as detailed in NCRs Ch.14 App.2 Art.4.3.
This is added to section 7 of our season SR's, as highlighted here.
If you are not a registered competitor in the British Hillclimb (and / or Cup) Championships, here is an extract from the Season SR's, to explain what is happening at the late May weekend.
GURSTON MASTER CLASS - 23-24 MAY 2026 weekend only.
BARC SW members (Interclub and National licence grade holders) that are not registered competitors in the British Hillclimb Championship (and cup) classes, will instead enter the Gurston Masters class. Drivers will compete against each other from all classes each day in the Gurston Masters Tournament. The daily "Gurston Master" winner being: the BARC SW member who makes the greatest improvement in, or is nearest to, their class target time in the timed runs each day.
The calculations as published in the 2026 Gurston Championship will be used so the driver with the highest number of points gained will be declared the daily winner, first and second runners up. In the event of a tie, for any position, the competitor with the smaller difference between their two times will go ahead, as a further indication of consistency.
The class Target Times current from the Gurston Championship after 3 May 2026 will be used. If a class target time is beaten during the Gurston Masters tournament in any of the timed runs over the two days, the adjustment of the target time will be according to the calculations as published in the 2026 Gurston Championship.
